MOLAF Circumflexions
(2021)
MOLAF Circumflexions is the fourth published work by the Museum and Longing and Failure.
Established in Bergen by Andrew Taggart and Chloe Lewis in 2010, the Museum and Longing and Failure (MOLAF) commissions, exhibits, archives, and reinterprets objects by artists. Since 2015, the MOLAF has been making books as a means to reframe its operations through linguistic and graphic exercises. In MOLAF Circumflexions, each text contains three sentences of twenty words or less, and each drawing is composed using three elements that repeat up to twenty times. This underlying structure reflects the numerical constraint given to artists when invited to create a sculptural work for the MOLAF’s collection — that their contribution measure 20 x 20 x 20 cm or smaller.
Written and illustrated by Chloe Lewis and Andrew Taggart.
