Rear Window / Vinduet mot bakgården
(2020)
REAR WINDOW is an illustrated anthology observing life in the converted old Arsenal Stadium, during London lockdown. From the balcony of her home, author and illustrator Cecilie M. Barstad spent months observing, studying and drawing her neighbours – creating a wonderful collection of works. In her colourful images and poetic texts, the reader enters her back courtyard with all its smells, conversations, noise and silence, sunshine and rain. The foreword has been written by Lene Renneflott, leader of Grafill. Author Benedicte Meyer Kroneberg has composed an essay, and Maurud Barstad is interviewed by arts writer Sondre Sommerfelt. Afterword by editor and designer, Nina Ansten. The book is bilingual in English and Norwegian. By re-using leftover material from other productions, four different covers were created. The book is printed and bound locally, by crafts specialists. Offset printing, limited edition of 700 books.
