Most of USW.press’ work is self-initiated, realised in-between commissions for other artists/designers/humans, for clients/collaborators and for research projects/objects. Other activities include facilitating and organising of riso-oriented workshops, teaching/learning/unlearning as well as inviting artists (and other human beings) to print sessions. Benjamin (or &soWalter) is also one half of small press publisher Villhund, together with Arild Rein. USW.press also produces publications for the bottom-up urbanist initiative Byverksted 🌴.
&soWalter is part of the Consulatet cooperative (together with silk screen printing artist DridMachine and others) and the transnational graphic design collective Fazed Grunion. Together with Anki Stølan and Jessica Williams, Benjamin founded Norsk Risoforening (Norwegian Riso Association) in 2018.
“&soWalter produces a dizzying array of fanzines, comics, booklets, posters, flyers, and anything and everything in between for what seems to be the whole of Stavanger. […] When looking at the whole of &soWalter’s unique production, immediacy and community are ever-present themes.” (Jessica Williams)
